The Chop

so i did it. i got me a haircut. and this time u can tell.

i went to the hairdressers.. sat down... and the hair dresser asked me if i spoke chinese. i said im really bad at it. so she continues to speak to me in chinese. *yeah.. i don't mind if u can't understand me*

so she asked me what i wanted and so i told her.

Me: ummm i wanna get my hair cut to just above my shoulders.
Hairdresser: (in chinese) yeah... no u don't. that's too short for you... you want something longer.
Me: umm but... i've always had long hair... like my hair is always the same... and my friends told me i should get it cut short.. and so... thats why im here *nervous laugh*
Hairdresser: but you'll have to maintain it... ur hair wont flick and curl.. short hair is hard to maintain.
Me: yeah that's fine.
Hairdresser: ok so you want it longer.
Me: *whhhhhhhhaaaaattttt*

why do hairdressers always insist on telling how i do and dont want my hair. one time a hairdresser told me not to get a side part cuz my hair line wont let it happen. LIES ive had a side part for years now.

u guys know im not good at standing my ground with these ppl... but i really had to make a slow creep to get my foot in the door.

i... have.. long hair.
i have always had long hair..
i would like to have short hair...
to get short hair i need to have it cut
please, please cut my hair..

so she started to work on my hair. after two minutes..
Me: ahh could i get it cut a bit shorter?
Hairdresser: *picks up peice of hair to show me she cut a whopping 2cms off*
Me: yeah.... i thought thats more like a trim...sorry i was umm hopin to get a haircut?
Another hairdresser: that is a haircut... haircut is at least 2cms

suddenly i'm in a class for HaircutDefinitions101

but in the end... i got my hair cut and it is short. and guess what.. it flicks and curls by itself. hairdresser's don't even know my hair :P

btw im not gunna send the photo to the hairdressers to prove them wrong, i mean... i wouldnt stoop THAT low... *seals envelope*

Boy bands are kool..

it was this song that convinced me that the movie Boytown would be good. but oh no. goodness no.

so i'm at Max's house after the NYE party at chucky's house. we decided to rent out some movies. i chose Disturbia. Max chose Boytown. and we decided to watch a comedy first. about 10mins into the film i started to realise the non-funniness of the film. but i didnt wanna say anything cuz i thought i would ruin the movie for max. turns out she was thinkin the same thing. bout 45mins into the movie it was just too obvious how crap the movie was. i turned to max. she had the exact same expression on her face as i did. the sheer disbelief of how horrible the movie was.

Max: Who are the film makers tryin to appeal to??
Me: Old aussie men? with old aussie men humour?
Max: Yeah... *picks up Boytown dvd cover* do u think old aussie men pick this up and feel compelled to rent it?
Me: ... old aussie women? with old aussie men humour?

it was bout the halfway mark that i really didnt wanna watch the movie anymore.

Me: Max... can we please watch Disturbia?
Max: it doesnt matter how crap this movie is... i cant pay for a movie and NOT finish it.

so we stuck it through together.. we didnt handle it to well... for bout 20 mins of the film consisted of me and max squirming and rolling around in pain, anguish and heartbreaking regret. and just as the movie was nearly finished...

max: omgsh!! i wish they would just die!!

and then.. they did. thats the creative ending of the movie... they all die in a plane crash. worst ending ever and yet... the one we all wanted.

Max: let's write a note for the next customer... "dear rentee of the movie Boytown, you have just spent $4 on the worst movie in the history of cinema films"

i couldn't stop laughing when i saw this video... i mean... not only does it resemble the Boytown video... but watch out for the part where there's a wave comin at them

2:57 - *sings passionately* Huh?? what's that??? AHHH duck everyone!!! .... *gets back up* *continues singing passionately*

Middle guy: NO! I can take it! i'm a big backstreet boy!

Everyone: wait... so suddenly were in the middle of the ocean? and either we have really really long legs or the ocean only goes up to our shins...

these guys should have stopped while they could. theyre the reality of Boytown.

Wii time is quality time

So i should prolly post bout this stuff before i forget (as in i already have and needed max to remind me what happened)

so a bunch of us went to mickee's house to get into the new craze Wii. we also played with a wide range of other games such as Mah jong and scrabble.

favourites:

Max being so caught up in the Wii world that she tried to pick up the phone by pointing her mobile at it.

Andy: Potatooo..

Simon: Give me my medal back!! I WANT MY MEDAL BACK!! *sprays screen with bullets*

Pen: *drinking Wii*
Everyone: DONTDRINKTOOFAST!
Pen: *splat*

*Wii jumping rope*
Sime: *gets up to jump*
Andy: DON'T JUMP!
Everyone: *thinks* what? why not?
Sime: *hits head on light*
Everyone: ohh thats why.

Kent cheating at a game of marbles with Max.

KC winning at scrabble with "NETS"

Me winning scrabble with "SIX"

Zef losing with "STOPSADUNG"

then the day after i went post-christmas shopping with Max. ahh thank God for sales. and now becuz of that the Crazy-asian-photo-taking-asian has returned. so at first i went to Harvey Norman to scout the place. there i met Terry, the salesman, who made it seem like he could get me a deal if i just asked. i wanted to take up on that offer. so i came back with maxie poo.

ahh yes. maxie poo. the gifted bargainer who has mastered the art in such a short time. she is the shopping buddy every girl should have.

Me: um... Hi terry.. umm.. soo... i went around and... turns out Kmart has 20% off all digital cameras... that makes their canon ixuz70 cheaper than Harvey Norman... so.. umm.. can u help me out please?

Terry: Yeah sure. *walks away to talk to his boss*

Max: umm does that mean he'll match it or beat it?

Me: i dunno...

Max: *sigh*

Terry: *comes back* ok we can't beat the price cuz its lower than our selling price.

Max: Listen. if you can't beat the price then u gotta give us a deal with the memory card.

1gb normal card = 29.95
1 gb super card = 49.95
2gb normal card = 49.95

Terry: ok how bout i give u a faster card for the price of a normal card.

Me: as in... you can take faster still photos?

Terry: yeah

Max: what the hec do u need that for? if ur gunna take fast photos, wouldnt u just film it? ok. give us the 2G memory card for 25.

Terry: *makes strangling motion* i'll go ask.

Me: Poor guy.

Max: *thinks* Frances-easily ripped off.

Terry: ok... i can give u the camera for $282 and the memory card for $25.

Max: what can u do with the warranty?

Me: i dunno how u do that..

Max is at a higher level of asianness than me. I just want the bargains. Max has the true shamelessness of an asian to go out and get them. well done max. nice doing business with u. or rather.. sitting on the sidelines and twiddling my thumbs while u screw Harvey Norman's sales.

Terry: *types my phone number in the computer* Frances is it?

Me: Yeah thats me.

Terry: it says here u've screwed us over before.

Max: LOL! they have a record of you.

btw now that ive got a new camera... expect to see alot more vids on youtube :P

The second part

I think whoever went to AYC can all agree that the speaker was darn good. His speeches were challenging but at the same time not condemning. He didn’t speak from a self-righteous point of view but at the same time he knew what he was talking bout. I could talk bout being “not ashamed of the gospel” and how to apply that to our lives outside church like at uni or in the workplace… but what really hit home for me was the “sacred cow” thing.

It’s pretty common for Christians to be asked “do you have an idol that hinders your relationship with God?” and for them to think “idols??? Woahh now way am I that bad… no sir… don’t have any golden cows hiding in my closet”. Thing is… an idol can be anything that you put before God… and the worst thing is that sometimes you don’t even realise it exists. It’s until you take a good look into your heart and uncover those dark corners that you have always turned a blind eye to. And everyone has their own personal thing.

What’s my thing? I guess there’s a lot of different things, but I think the one that popped up was chasing the praise of people, especially in church. It’s the difference between doing something for God and for myself while pretending it’s for God. It’s the thoughts in my head and how it’s focussing on what people think of me. It’s the personal desire in my heart to seem like the best person I can be rather than actually being the best person I can be.

But thank God for his unfailing love and amazing power to forgive. I know this idol won’t go away tomorrow but hopefully one day, with prayer and God’s help, I’ll be able to put this aside and serve God with an earnest heart.

Anyways just something to think bout. And since this has been quite a serious post I just wanted to put some vids up while im still in AYC fever :P

No Shame Know Gain

i'm baaaack... and i have a frequent-blogger-reputation to live up to so here it goes.

so girl power (plus atan) went to the AYC in sydney. i'm not too sure how im gunna sum up everything that has happened in the week... but i'll pick out the memorable moments.

for months now girl power has been teasing me bout booking a day before i was supposed to. but when i met up with the crew in sunday service.. the tables turned.

Viv: So tireeeeed lahh
Max: Yeahhh woke up at 3am to get here...
Em: *nodding in sleep*
Me: *shoulder laugh* eh eh eh eh

i stayed with Kevin and Fifi from Sherwood church the nite before camp. good times good times.

Kevin: oh man... took me like 20mins to figure out how to use the shower taps.. hot is cold and cold is hot. i standing there waiting for the water to heat up.. but it just got more and more.

then after camp i stayed with girl power in the exact same room at 'Legend has it'.

Viv: *finishes having a shower*
Em: *starts to go into the bathroom*
Me: oh btw.. hot is cold and cold is hot.
Viv: ...gee thanx. say that for ems but not for me. at least em would have figured it out faster.

Camp was sooo much fun!!! despite some unfortunate events...

I normally hate the sports part of camp… luckily this year I missed out… I just had to pay a price.

What I remember..

* falling to the ground along with Jason in slow motion
* having an entire hospital staff patch me up (or students rather… comes with being in an asian church)
* having half my face plastered with huge bandages
* having everyone come up to me saying “aww you ok?” while patting my injured shoulder
* wearing a paper sign saying “please do not pat (but thanx anyway)”
* getting royal treatment from everyone (e.g. getting my cereal poured for me lol)
* Emily constantly telling me off when I touch any of my bandages :P
* not being able to laugh or smile becuz my lip was swollen (Robin thought I’m not an expressive person)
* developing an even manlier/uglier laugh as a result

then after camp we hung out with some AYC ppl at Robin’s parents house for dinner. Some of us took a walk to get some ice-cream

Caleb: *thinks* I don’t want this ice-cream cone anymore… hey.. I have a good idea… how about I swing this ice-cream back and forth till it falls off.
Me: *thinks* do da do this ice-cream is good. Wait… what is that white ball thing flying towards me? *squeals*

Splat. The ice-cream went onto my jeans, shirt and bag and Caleb continued the Melbourne conspiracy against me lol I’m just kidding. Caleb and Jason are awesome.

Some other funny moments…

* singing into Kevin’s foam cup phone, thinking it was Kevin on the other end when it was actually Caleb who had no clue what I was doing
* me and max singing and dancing (wait… that always happens…)
* watching Kevin and Kevin imitate me and max
* me being held up by viv and em all the way to the train station in the rain cuz my thongs didn’t have any grip
* playing the marshmallow game with mandarins and watching the same ppl make the same mistakes over and over
* Green green green green green green green green REEEDD YEEELLLLLOOOOOWWWWWWW

Robin introducing girl power…
Robin: Hey Wilson I want u to meet ‘girl power’. They are all musically talented!
Me: *thinks* cept me.
Robin: Max and Viv both play and teach piano! Emily plays bass guitar and sings!
Me: *thinks* whats he gunna say..
Robin: and frances… stacked it.

I will forever be known as the girl that stacked it at camp

Going to Yum Cha (the place where Chris thought us Brissy ppl have never been to before)

*everyone sits down*
Kevin: *pulls out paper bag with a croissant inside*
Everyone: *stares* what is that….
Kevin: croissant-bao

Viv: Umm guys.. could we please use the chopsticks in the middle for picking up food instead of using our own? Thank you.
*ten minutes later*
Caleb: *reaches for food with own chopsticks*
Jeremy: Dude watch out! Ok go go she’s not looking
*twenty mins later*
Me: *reaches for food with own chopsticks*
Max: *grabs hand*
Me: What? …. Ohhhh *both look in fear at viv*
Lol viv is so cute (but mature and kool at the same time)

Random convo with Max and Viv
Max: Hey isn’t ‘tomato’ in chinese really similar sounding to English? How do u say it viv?
Viv: Fuuuuuuuunnnnnn Keeeeeeeeeee……

Explaining OT to Kevin
Kevin: So if I can’t use my leg what would you do?
Me: Well… say I’d be looking at stuff like… can you sit on the toilet properly while you pee…
*pause*
Me: oh wait..

Emily dictating my every move after being injured
*at a resturant*
Me: man I’m getting full
Em: EAT YOUR FOOD! Eat it!!
Me: but I’m gunna be sick..
Em: Don’t eat it! Don’t eat it!
Me: *grabs glass of water*
Em: Don’t drink it! That’s why ur full! Don’t drink it!!
Me: But it’s stuck in my throat…
Em: Drink it! Drink it!!
Me: *crying while drinking*

Anyway this has become the longest post ever so I’ll have to end it here. Next… what I actually learned from camp.

dinner with the Dongs

btw im tryin to go for the modern look but it ended up looking just like nessy poo's blog *twin stare*

so today my mum was like "we're goin to dinner with ur dad tonite" and im thinkin "this is a rare event... but there is a high probability of humilation that will come with this event as it involves all three of us being in public"

we've been tryin to go to that ISHU-SUMFINSUMFIN Sushi Bar for ages now and tonite was the third time my parents have tried. the past two times we didnt get it becuz my mum would say "we have to get there early or we wont get in" and my dad would say "sif (or na li...)" then we would drive there and not get a seat and would go to the resturant next door which sells poo in soup. third times a charm... this time they made a reservation. makes all the difference.

so when we get out of the car my mum hands me a water bottle

Mum: put this in ur bag
Me: k..

it wasnt later till i realised why.
Mum: is the tea free?
Waiter: No.
Mum: that's all then.

then she tells me to pull out the water bottle from my bag. already i could see the waiters eyes turning as i ever so slowly poured our own personal water into their classy foam cups.

Waiter: *walks up to me* Umm excuse me, we don't allow drinks from outside, could you please put that bottle on the chair away from view

Me: *thinking* i was framed i tells you!!!

my dad doesnt get out much so this resturant was a whole new world to him.

Dad: *looks at menu and says to waiter* ok so...which one is the sushi?

Me: *looking for the waiters reaction* sure enough it was the "max face", the look of unimpressedness

Waiter: ... ah this whole side of the menu is sushi.

Dad: *thinks* i came for Japanese food... not sushi.

waiting for the next Dong outing.

God doesn't waste

so tonite i went to Aunty Helen's and Uncle Alex's sharing. it was prolly one of the most moving sharings i've ever been to. if you guys don't know, Aunty Helen was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago and Uncle Alex is her husband. they both did a sharing each about their life before, during and after the news and how God changed their lives forever.

When i saw Uncle Alex get up on stage i noticed something different about him. In all the years ive been at EMP, i don't remember seeing him smile like he did tonite. Uncle Alex had been brought up in a Christian family all his life. he went to sunday skool and he went to church every sunday. he knew all the stories, he knew God and he believed in Jesus. But he never let Jesus into his life. It was at the highest point in his life, when both of his daughters were doing well with their careers, that he was told his wife had been diagnosed with cancer. it cut deep into his heart and he didnt think he could go on living. it was his darkest hour.

one night, while his daughters were in hospital with their mother, he was at home alone. in his total desperation he went down on his knees and cried, praying to God with all his being. He prayed for God's help. He went into the living room and prayed there. As he looked across the table, he saw the Bible. But he didnt know how to use the bible. But he knew that the Word of God was how God would help him through. That night, he was touched by God and he finally surrendered to Him with all his heart. When he went back to the hospital, his daughters noticed there was something different about him, a sense of joy had overcome him. He shared his experience with God with his family and they were thankful that he found God.

Aunty Helen has been a faithful Christian at our church before my time lol She was one of my sunday skool teachers and has been teaching for like more than a decade. She was close to God and was diligent in His ministry. When she went to the doctors for a bad leg, she discovered that she had cancer. She was in disbelief and went out of the clinic in shock. It wasn't until the drive home that it hit her. Death was knocking at her door and she refused to let it in. Tears poured down her face as she asked God "Why me? What have I done to deserve this?" She drove towards Rev Col's house. He opened his house to her and prayed for her. She didn't know how she was going to tell her family. She didnt want to.

It just so happened, by God's will, that her whole family had gathered, some from interstate, the weekend that she recieved the news of her condition. She just wanted to enjoy the day with her family. Later on she told her family that she was diagnosed with cancer. The family went through many trials since then. Aunty Helen went through 12 chemo sessions and struggled through all the side effects as a result of the treatment. She went through a rollercoaster that didnt seem to stop. She wondered why God was letting this happen to her. What good had come from this experience? She was suffering physically while her faith was put to the test. It was when her husband came to her and told her that God has changed his life, that she realised the purpose of her sufferings. Her faith in God only grew stronger and now she is closer to God than she had ever been. She finally found peace and joy in her circumstance and acceptance of whatever may come in her future. She finally understood that it was spiritual healing that she needed. And she is grateful for the love and support our church has shown her through the most difficult time of her life.

Aunty Helen is still in need of our prayers, her journey with cancer is not over yet. so i hope that everyone will at least take something away from Aunty Helen's and Uncle Alex's sharing and learn from it. God doesn't waste bad experiences but its our attitude towards challenges in life that make it into what it is rather than what it could be. No tragedy should ever be in vain in God's family.

meaningless

guess what?

you are now reading the 100th post on my blog. CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU'VE WON ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! (except the honour of reading this blog of course lol)

so i figured i should talk bout sumfin deep and meaningful, i mean this is a special event and all. so im in the middle of SWOTVAC studying for my ridiculous exam timetable and learning bout the human lifespan in OCTY1203 from birth to death. Gets me thinking.

most people (in our society anyway) have a pretty straight forward expectation of their life. get a good job, find the 'ONE', get married, have kids, retire and have a peaceful death at a nice ripe old age. but life doesnt always work out like that. things go wrong. things dont go to plan. ppl get fired. husbands and wives are unfaithful. kids leave parents after years of care and unconditional love, young ppl die in the prime of their life only to be forgotten in this world.

what is there then? what do we have to look forward to? why do we go through pain over and over? why do we make it over a hill only to reach another mountain? is it all dross? (had to lighten the mood somewhere :P)

it's so true when Jesus said all things in this world are meaningless and temporary. if you rely on things, you will lose them. if you rely on money, you will die without a cent. if u rely on ppl, you will get disappointed (just as u have disappointed others). If you rely on fame, well... paparazzi will just screw u over in general. its so true, that God is the only one that is forever. He's the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and the day after and the day after that... He's the only thing that we can rely on and ironically the one thing we can't see... but we already know all the things that visible are unreliable.
especially if its made in china.
jokes. lol

He is the only one that gives us a love that is unfailing, unconditional and forever. He gives us hope for a future that goes beyond this worlds concept of space and time. A future without pain or suffering. To be celebrating with angels and living in holiness and purity in the presense of God is what i look foward to. It's so true that this life on earth is like a race. ppl cant just walk to the beginning of the tracks and say "gimme the gold medal, i deserve it". atheletes go through pain-staking efforts, train every day, make sacrifices and push through one physical injury after another. Its so true that perseverance brings people through the tunnel and into the light. this world was built to train us, because things like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control and perseverance cant be picked up in a store.. it has to be learned through life with God. we have to go through life's hurdles to learn and become stronger for the next one in order to win the race.

but human efforts in the spiritual race is nothing without Jesus. and he knows a thing or two bout trials. hes been there. he knows. thats why he's always there if we reach out for him when things get tough. hes there when things are great too, even if those are the times we forget about him. it takes courage, faith and discipline to rely on God. it's not always easy. but at the same time, to put ur life in God's hands is to let go of so many burdens. its the best thing you could possibly do in this lifetime. whether you experience the benefits now or in heaven. and now that i've done that, i can live my life being content with what i have, what i've lost and whatever may come my way.

Boys and footy

i just love this picture. why? is the incredibly hot bunch of blokes otherwise known as the footy boys? is it the proud display of footy short shorts? although those things do win a few of my votes... i'd have to say its the fact that all the guys are squishing their arms to their chest to make what appears to be muscles. if these guys made a 12 month calendar... i'd buy it :P

so why are guys so into footy? is it becuz its manly and they happen to be men? or is there a deeper philosophy to it... aftering doing some research... i can now report my findings.

Professor Timmy (2007:14)
"theres a reason why guys are the predominant sex in games.. in sport.. computer games... chess.. pretty much any game. why ? because guys love to compete with each other. there's the slight rush of adrenaline when something is happening.. is like the addictive thing. some ppl only play to win - i call those ppl losers XD

i guess its more to show how skilled you are at something, you may not necessarily be the best.

in team games at least.. its also like a 'primary' way in which guys can bond with each other in a non-gay way.

on the field .. you cant pretend to be a different character.. your tru colours shine... like if you get agro really easily.. it will stick out like a sore thumb on the field"

Dr Tingy, S. (2007:257)

"football teaches you many lessons of life... teamwork, mateship, group of people working to achieve one common goal, getting thru tough times, mentally preparing yourself to face the onslaught ahead, the enjoyment of smashing someone else, having to abide by rules and regulations and dealing with being caught out wen you disobey them.

so really, football is a life lesson.

young men of this day and age learn so much from it

not to mention the shear enjoyment that they get from playing.

Fong, M., PhD. (2007:30)

it's fun.

In conclusion, the relationship between man and football is a sacred bond that is beyond full understanding and comprehension ... personally i think its just the male version of shopping - building friendships, adrenaline, lesson in life (asian mother bargaining) and of course the best excuse of all... physical exercise :P

My Day

so today i did some volunteer work at a Logan Community Centre. it was definately a new experience. don't jump to the conclusion that i'm a saint. it was for an assignment i'm doing. but yeah i've always wanted to do volunteer work, just never thought my first time would be with people with special needs. i had no clue what i was doing...

lesson No. 1 - Don't judge a book by it's cover... especially in this environment. I actually went up to one of the ladies with an intellectual ability thinking she was one of the staff asking if she needed help. Her name is Karyn. And when i saw a man in a wheelchair just staring at nothing i automatically made assumptions of his disabilities. turns out we could have a good chat bout chess and bowling and other things i'm not good at :) His name is John.

lesson No. 2 - Some prefer to be treated to as adults while some prefer kiddy play - no matter what age they may be. One of the younger men (less than 40) doesnt actually have a mental disability so to me it was like talking to anyone else, just with arthritis. His name is Stewart. Then there was the other John, who seriously looked like a professor in Physics, but i got to played "velcro-ball darts" with him. He was better. And he laughs at absolutely every joke. lol such a cute Physics professor.

lesson No. 3 - If someone doesn't warm up to you immediately, don't give up. There's one lady named Melissa. It didn't matter how many smiles i could beam at her, she'd still looked unimpress. But when i saw them playing a game i sat down next to her and asked her if she could teach me how to play. She was more than happy to. anyway so today i learned how to play Rammies. yeah... its like a cross between Uno and Dominos. but our relationship grew deeper when we talked bout period pain. yes. don't judge me. i'll use what i can. lol

lesson No. 4 - People are more capable than you think. for morning tea i helped feed Shayne. Helped wipe her face and everything. then at lunch i found out she could feed herself. it was just messier. and she spilt her drink. but i think it's worth it if she could get one step closer to independence (something we take for granted everyday). She can't speak but she can laugh and squeal. so she likes to get in on all the jokes.

lesson No. 5 - People with disabilities are people who are different... but then again who isn't different? They all have different needs when it comes to communication and that's not their problem, it's how I adapt to their differences to treat them as unique individuals. it's the same as how i talk differently to my friends than i do to aunties and uncles at church. i do it out of respect and i want to make the other person feel more comfortable.

it takes time to work on this but i'm determined to make a connection to all the members, even the ones that can't speak. everyone has something to say, it's just whether we have the time and motivation to listen in new ways.

Asians are actually hilarious

ok so i know videos are cheat blogs... but i couldnt resist.

i have seen some freaky-as asian shows before.... but i applaud the ppl who came up with this *bui nod*.

The Perfect Man

so what makes a perfect man?

sure he's gotta be all things contradicting... Gentle but tough, confident but a little shy, funny but serious... cool but hot. IIII'm just jokin :P being cool is always better than being hot lol

but what bout that special something-extra. well, i think i've found it.

i don't actually like Justin Timberlake... he seems immensely up himself... but like Max said "he can show up at my doorstep in a gingerbreadman suit any day". Hint to Max's future husband: go with the gingerbreadman suit when u propose, she won't say yes otherwise.

what is it with guys? how is it that guys can get all the girls without being physically attractive? i mean, Prince? what happened there?

Micheal Jackson? (there must have been a trend with feminine looking men in the 80s)

the number of girls JD got on Scrubs was ridiculous... it seems like all you have to do is be funny and ur set.

Or guys could just have a talent. I mean, i kno Guy Sebastian isnt ur typical pretty boy, but he doesnt have to be with that voice :P if only he didnt waste his talent on Elevator Love....

so based on these recent findings, i come to the conclusion that the perfect guy would be a feminine lookin, singing clown in a gingerbreadman suit.... he's out there.

Baby pics

Me: *sees random photos on the table*
*thinks* WOAHHH what an unfortunate looking baby...

Mum: Hey! i found some of your baby photos!

Me: Damn.

Me: Man, i was the ugliest baby ever.

Dad: No you weren't... theres gotta be a good photo somewhere *searches through photos for another hour without success*

Mum: Yeah she's right.

Still remember a "fannydong - 1" moment

Coles: You were really ugly as a kid.
Me: gee thanx.
Coles: At least you got a bit better.
Me: yeah i can say the opposite bout you.

that deserved two points lol

According to this photo i was born as a boy.

This photo is substantial evidence that i have always been bad at being asian.

Mum: Frances... at least pretend to look like you have friends for the camera.

Me: How's this?

I hated boys.

Still do.

Always have been a slob.

and i guess this one is just for the fun of it.

yep. thats sandy in pink.

yep. that's pen at the end with the famous 'bowl-cut'

yep. that's steph and crystal being the cutest kids u ever did see.

SpiderEms Spider Ems

so ok at bible study i was still drowning myself in the Buble' phase of mine so i just had to bring it into the conversation.

Me: Hey have u guys heard Michael Buble's version of Spiderman?
Em: Errr... that was the original version... they played it in the movie. *thinks* you inferior being.
Me: Really? I thought there was an old one to like a cartoon show.
Em: No I do not think so.. *thinks* how dare you question my infinite knowledge.
Everyone else: Yeah emily's right, there was no cartoon.
KC: *gathers courage* Actually i think there was.
Em: Maybe u just read the comics and imagined the whole thing.
KC: .... you are right Emily. How foolish of me (k not those words exactly)

longest birthday ever...

so it was the epic birthday party yesterday (party for mickee, vonnie, sandy and myself) (myself? trying to be all correcty englishy) (didnt last long) anywayssss

so yeah i was gunna cook fried rice for the party but then dad was like "... yeah... let's not ruin the party *pats head*" soo i spent that time watching him cook.

Jonathan: Hey Frances this fried rice is really good!
Me: Yeah my dad made it.
Jonathan: IT'S REALLY GOOD!
Me: Yeah he knows.

i went to the party early to help set up, ended up standing there for an hour waiting for the party to start. Sandra and mickee were cleaning and setting up the place for like 2 hours before i got there. perfect timing.

so we had music (memory lane music) and the hulahoops (no party can do without) and cake (a billion of them). and of course present time. i would post about every present but so little time.. and u guys will see why.

i got heaps of clinque stuff and i actually know that brand so its not so scary.

i got a pink... ermmm... well... yeah i have no idea. just look.

lol but it has magical powers that override sharks, giraffes and random yellow crabs.

i got flowers for the first time. and from guess who. its zeffy poo! (meaning steffy poo! hmm i tried to mold their names into one...)

zef is like the brother that doesnt want to show affection until he absolutely has to lol i love that. the next most affectionate thing he's done to me would be calling me fannydong.

Zef: Yeah i figured no one has given you flowers before.
Me: Thanx man.

and here comes the epic present... "The Epic Journey of Fannydong". Nessy poo's story that u've heard so much about.

family camp

ahhhhhh dont u just love church camps? i mean where else can do crazy things like play with hulahoops, poop out ping pong balls, eat string and wrap another human being in mountains of toilet paper... and its OK?

so since no one has written any posts bout family camp... i guess i'll take this one (seeing as i am the worst uni student out of all of u).

5 star cabins. ooooooooooh thank the Lord for blessing us with toilets and showers to each room.

Crashing Pen's cabin. it was reeking of deodorant... i think ness kept naggin simon to spray himself.
the party gettin crowded and crazy = playing sudoku and having spelling competitions. we were just a room of nerds.

Dr Ivan's awesome talks bout praying the prayer "make us a blessing", what sacrifices we have to make, how we should prepare ourselves for that. he was a really awesome speaker.

hulahoops. even the respected adults of the church were showing their off their thrusting skills. and who said curves help? me and ness were the worst at it. but after an hour of endless practicing... we became professional hulahoop hoopers... until all the little kids took over and totally shut us down with their 'hulahooping at the knees' and 'walking around while hulahooping'. smart-ass kids lol.

the last nite = sitting around a table singing any song that came to mind.
watching bui him twitch with the urge to join in while knowing we would pay him out if he so much as opens his mouth... lol we're horrible.

reminiscing camp photos... two hours after the photos were taken??

random quotes from camp...
"and i said what about breakfast at tiffany's"

"i hope u know.. i hope u knoooooow"

"make me a blessing, make me a blessing to someone today"

"make me a bungalow, make me a bungalow to some bung today"

Me: why don't we have an endless supply of cups!?!? i want an endless supply of cups!!!
Em: u know.. if you wish for an endless supply of cups... u mite regret it.. (serious face)
Me: (unimpressed stare) ... i wish for an endless supply of cups.

"jonamaphooooon"

ness: Welcome to our lair!!
me: *sigh* ur not saying it right...
ness: oh.. welcome to our lair!!
me: *thinks* that's exactly the same as what u just said..

Me: what kind of a name is Bungalow!?!?
Em: you've just insulted someone's language.. (serious face)
Me: (unimpressed stare) ...I WISH FOR AN ENDLESS SUPPLY OF CUPS!!!!

Me and ness: Hey eddy! can we have those two hulahoops??
Eddy: SURE!
Smart-ass kids: Hey eddy! can we have those two hulahoops??
Eddy: SURE!

"may bungalow shine..."

Thursday, August 09, 2007

so you guys may have seen ness' awesomest bday present. if not. well. it was awesome. it was a story book bout our journey together through friendship. and i know i'll never do it justice but i'm bored right now so i'm gunna look back on our story.. but instead of using photos of ourselves... i'll use clips of turk and jd.. the two friends we identify with the most.

the first day me and ness met was a special day. ness was a quite shy girl. she had thick glasses, huge braces and was reeking of nerdiness. me? well i dun wanna brag but i was quite the kool pre-teen.... ok i was loud and obnoxious like any other. but i thought ness needed a friend so i approached her.

and then began our friendship. only now we've morphed into eachother to both become loud obnoxious nerdy teens.

we became inseparable. there were times when skool started again and oh how i missed her. but thank goodness those holidays came around when we would once again be reunited.

we grew up together. and shared experiences of growing up. like... being VIP guests at a wedding (Pen's wedding to be exact).

and shared other experiences like clubbing. k... we havent gotten there yet but it's been planned for at least two years now. but i know i'll have to use my streetsmarts and springwoodness to get her in.

and got into the health profession together. only we'll bring a little something extra the to hospitalalthough OTs hate doctors and doctors... well dont care bout OTs... our friendship prevails.

the end.

18...

so i finally turned 18.

How does it feel? feels like a few days after being 17.

Has anything changed? No, i still have to think for a while before i answer the question "how old are you?" except maybe now asians won't be surprised to hear my age.

Did i do anything wildly crazily insane on my 18th? Well, I wanted to have my first legal drink but everyone thought i would pass out after my first sip. they're prolly right.

Did i get any presents? Yep!

so what happened on my birfday? well it was prolly the best birfday ive ever had, simply becuz i spent the day surrounded by the friends i love and cherish. it didnt really matter what i did, just who i was with.

plus, i dont think ive ever been reminded it was my birthday so many times in one day. i mean, i forgot my own birthday once.... once. but yeah with all the humiliating happy birthday singing in public, i remembered just fine :P don't think ive ever had a whole food court of ppl stare at me before... good times... lol

so in the morning we had the interfellowship sports day with Sherwood (our sister church). that was awesome fun... felt like a mini camp. and who's group won? oh yeah thats right, 'GROUP NUMBER ONE! ...WE'RE NUMBER ONE!'

and i got a HUGE surpirse. SIMON BELL (hot n spicy) showed up at the sports day. he hid behind B and i was about 40 meters away, but all i had to see was the rim of his hair and i knew it was him. it was just *thinks* there's a white dude over there...cant see his face... wait... i know those curls ANYWHERE!!! lol thanx for the surpise sime. cant spell surprise

after that we went to buffet garden... same spot as last time. and ppls mixed heaps of things to make a horrible creation for bui to drink for 7 bucks, just like last time. oh! and the dodgy birthday tape played for me. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO mmmMMMM... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUU" i DO feel special. especially since that song played every two minutes for someone else. everyones born in august... and no.. i dont wanna know what they meant for the parents.

then we went to have dinner at Little tai pei. what can i remember from it... oh
"HE WORE AN ITSY BITSY... TEENY WEENY... YELLOW... POKA DOT... BIKINI"

max trying to wear her napkin as fashionably as she could.

watching mickey chew his food, the man can bite like the wind but when it comes to chewing... lol

went to tea etc., like old times, and went to Fun House, like... those few times we did before.

but the day was exactly how i planned. everyone together having a good time just doing what we used to do, talking, laughing and enjoying eachother's company.

thanx everyone for the awesomest birfday ever :D
